One for all and one for one!

Angela Merkel is quoted as saying the divorce bill must be paid before any negotiations about future relations twixt the EU and the UK can begin – or words to that effect.

Just who the hell is this woman but a consummate politician who, previously an advocate of socialist dogma in East Germany, following German reunification saw an opportunity to continue her political career and grabbed it with both hands?

Theresa May, acknowledged as having voted, supposedly reluctantly, to remain in the European Union, now presents herself as the champion of Brexit – who following the resignation of David Cameron, saw an opportunity to further her political career and grabbed it with both hands.

Ths list of those resurrecting a hiatus in their political career development is virtually endless: think Patton, Brittan, Kinnock, Mandelson, Ashton and Hill – see the pattern?

Why is it a certain quote springs to mind, if only I could recall it? Ah, yes:

Politics, noun. A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage: Ambrose Bierce, The Devil’s Dictionary

Thus, does it seem, that we are led by those whose only aim is self-aggrandisement – and to hell with democracy; and thus the people they were originally supposed to represent.

The more I view representative democracy and those therein who pontificate about upholding democracy, the more I feel the need to puke.

Where representative democracy is concerned, it can best be summed up as the practice of: see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil – with the result it is justĀ  evil.

Just saying………….

  1. This reminds me of a conversation my late uncle told me had with his US opposite number in Italy during WWII.

Ian: What do you do in civvy street?

    US major: Politics

    Ian: Does it pay well?

    US major: You bet.

  2. Every word that Angela Merkel says convinces me more and more that it is Germany which is really running the EU. Germany decided to let in millions of “refugees”, Germany decided that they should be forced on other countries. Germany decided to impoverish Greece through the Euro and is trying to do the same with other southern European countries.
Germany lost WW2, but has won the peace in Europe. By leaving the EU and standing up for ourselves we are now doing the same financially as we did militarily in WW2.

    1. Merkel is very German in that she thinks she is clever, and in Germany all you have to do to be clever is be German! However, Merkel like all German Leaders has assumed that Turkey will do as it is told, then along came Erdogan. These two deserve each other.

  3. >”Just who the hell is this woman but a consummate politician…”

    Merket/May:-

Appears (being the operative word) to be the same process as:-

Celebrity? Also Book Writer who sells millions!

Actor? Also Philosophical Leader who gives speeches to millions!

Pop Star? Who’s Music and Hair Fashion influences millions of children!

Are Politicians any different in the effect their “similar positions in our societies” exert on so many millions of people?
